Semmes AL Air Conditioning Repair & Service
Personalized HVAC Services for Our Semmes Neighbors
On August 17, 2010, the community of Semmes became Alabama’s 461st municipality. The city, located in West Central Mobile County, Alabama, the southwestern-most county in the state, was incorporated less than nine months later, on May 2, 2011, and the new city has been busy attracting residents and businesses ever since. Many property owners in the surrounding area have filed annexation petitions requesting permission to join the city. The city’s first mayor, Judy Hale, was deemed elected to the post without an actual election after being the only candidate to run for the mayorship. The city’s first five-person City Council was seated in the same way.
One of the area’s favorite historic attractions is Semmes Heritage Park, which features such historical points of interest as the restored 1902 School House, which is the oldest continuously-in-use schoolhouse in the state. The antique School Bell is another historical feature of the town, and the Malone Chapel is a replica built to commemorate Mt. Pleasant Church, which originally stood on the same spot. Today, the chapel, aside from being a tourist attraction, is used for weddings, meetings, and other special events.
Semmes Community Playground and Park is another wonderful place to bring not just the children, but the entire family. For information about other events and activities in the city of Semmes, such as the annual Azalea Festival, visit the Friends of Semmes website.
In nearby Mobile, visitors will enjoy the lovely Mobile Botanical Gardens. Nature lovers will find a fabulous outdoor environment featuring cultivated gardens, woodland trails, and a longleaf pine restoration, offering breathtaking views. Mobile Botanical Gardens is run by a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the plants that are native to the area, while educating visitors about the community’s botanical heritage. Various events are held at the gardens throughout the year to raise funds to maintain the facilities and ensure their ongoing operation. Check the local area calendar or visit the online calendar at the Gardens website to find out what will be happening during your visit.
Because Semmes is situated in the central Gulf Coast region, the city features a subtropical climate, bringing hot, humid summers, with an average July high of 91, and moderately warm winters, with an average January low of 41. Rainfall averages 66 inches per year, though the town enjoys an average of 218 sunny days to its 120 rainy ones. No matter when you decide to visit, you’ll find that a charming city awaits!
