Avoiding the Flu this Winter

We at Action Heating and Air Conditioning are finding that this flu season has been difficult for many of our customers. We would like to share some tips that could help you avoid the flu bug as well as not share it with others. Of course, getting a flu shot is always recommended but we know not everyone agrees with this. These tips were collected from the Center for Disease Control website for avoiding the flu.

If you have the Flu

• Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. This will help prevent spreading your illness to others.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing. It may prevent those around you from getting sick.
• Avoid close contact with others.
• Don’t share any personal hygiene products with a family member

To avoid catching the Flu

• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.
• Germs are spread when a person touches something contaminated with germs and then touches his or her eyes, nose, or mouth.
• Clean and disinfect touched surfaces at home, work or school often. Especially when you are ill or someone close by is ill. Get plenty of sleep, physical activity, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritiously.
